Maria Marlowe: [00:00:06] Welcome to The Glow Life. I’m your host, Maria Marlowe. I am a holistic nutritionist and entrepreneur with a love for all things health and wellness. And I believe that when we take responsibility for ourselves, for our thoughts and our actions, we can create a life beyond our wildest dreams, a life of health, of happiness, of abundance, a life where you radiate and glow from within. A.k.a. the Glow Life.

Maria Marlowe: [00:00:42] This is the evolution of my original podcast, The Happier and Healthier Podcast. And when I started that one a few years ago, my goal with it was to help people become just a little bit healthier and a little bit happier through introducing them to a wide variety of different health and wellness topics so that they could dip their toes into the water. It was full of practical tips, so you can start implementing some of these habits and these little baby steps and small changes in order to improve your health, improve your life.

Maria Marlowe: [00:01:19] And now, with The Glow Life, I want to take that a step further, so I don’t want you to become just a little bit healthier and happier. I want you to radiate, to shine, to glow, to become that woman or man that you want to be, to step into your own power and your own light.

Maria Marlowe: [00:01:42] Now, when I was thinking about what to talk about in this first episode, I could not help but think of a very famous quote from Marianne Williamson’s book, A Return to Love. So I’m going to share that with you now. She writes, our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous. Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.

Maria Marlowe: [00:02:26] There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And it’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear our presence automatically liberates others.

Maria Marlowe: [00:02:58] So in my own life, I feel like I am personally in a season where I am stepping into my light now, more so than ever before. And I feel like I am becoming the person that I’ve always wanted to be. And it’s just such a liberating feeling, and I wanted to share it with you guys. And I want this podcast to help you tap into your own inner light and really find what makes you glow and become that person that you want to be.

Maria Marlowe: [00:03:28] In terms of content, it will be very similar to the Happier and Healthier Podcast, and that we will have lots of top experts, guest experts in the areas of nutrition, health, beauty, and wellness. And there will still be plenty of nutrition and health content because, in order to glow, you do need to have a healthy diet. But you’ll find more content on psychology, mindset, and all things holistic wellness so that you can really glow from within. There will also be more beauty content, but not necessarily beauty in the traditional sense. More beauty from within.

Maria Marlowe: [00:04:55] Now, in short, if you are new to the podcast, if you’re new to me, I will give you a quick 60-second overview or introduction. After struggling with acne for about four years in my late teens and early twenties, I was introduced to the concept of food as medicine. At the time, I was eating a standard American diet, pizza, cookies, cake. No vegetables, except for tomato sauce and pizza and french fries. I was introduced to this concept, drastically overhauled my diet. And lo and behold, my skin cleared up in a matter of a couple of months, which is something no pill or potion or dermatologist was able to do in the prior four years.

Maria Marlowe: [00:05:34] So because of this, my own transformation, I was so blown away that I really became interested in nutrition. I started studying more and more and eventually switched careers to study nutrition and cooking. Fast forward, almost a decade, I am now known as the acne nutritionist, as I focus primarily on helping people clear their skin from within through diet and lifestyle changes. Now that said, over the years I have realized that wellness is about so much more than just what we eat. So if you’ve been listening to the Happier and Healthier Podcast, you’ll know that the later episodes have more content on things like breathwork, meditation, movement, nature, positive psychology, and so much more.
