FOR CLEAR SKIN WITHOUT COMPROMISE
If you’ve struggled with acne for months, years, or decades and have tried just about everything to no avail, it’s time to examine the internal factors that contribute to acne.
Acne is a sign of inflammation and imbalance. The only way to achieve truly radiant, clear, healthy skin is to reduce inflammation, heal your gut, balance your blood sugar and hormones, and keep your stress in check. The results from acne medications are often short-lived and can leave you with unwanted side effects. Diet and lifestyle changes do the opposite – they are long-lasting (as long as you keep them up) and come with only positive side effects for your mood, PMS, weight, immunity, and digestion.
Maria has been working with acne clients for over 10 years and has a proven track record of happy clients who have achieved clear skin in months and maintained it for years. She has dedicated her time and research to acne and developed a proven, science-backed, doctor-approved protocol for reversing acne naturally through diet and lifestyle changes…without the need for medications.
Maria attends continuing education for integrative dermatology and nutrition regularly, to stay on top of the latest research.

AREAS YOU WILL WORK ON
After your appointment is accepted, you will receive an email with a questionnaire and food diary form, to be completed before your first session.
What is the difference between The Clear Skin Plan and one-on-one coaching?
The Clear Skin Plan is a DIY guide to uncovering your root causes of acne and remedying them through diet and lifestyle changes. It contains over 100 delicious skin-clearing recipes and sample meal plans to follow. YOU will become a body detective and experiment and find habits that work best for you. This is a PDF you can download right away.
One-on-one coaching is a more targeted, tailored, and in-depth approach. Acne Nutritionist Maria Marlowe will review your acne and health history, current diet and lifestyle habits, and any other symptoms (for example gut, hair, nails, etc). Based on that, she’ll suggest specific diet and lifestyle habits that will have the most impact. She may recommend blood work or diagnostic tests with your doctor, if needed.
How long will it take to see results?
Participants typically begin to see small changes within 3-7 days in the form of a reduction of redness, inflammation, and bumps. Full or substantial clearance can take between 4-12 weeks, with some requiring a little longer.
How many sessions are needed?
Maria’s goal is to help you achieve clear skin as quickly as possible. You will leave the first session with a clear roadmap of what needs to be done to achieve clear skin. During subsequent sessions, you will delve deeper into various topics, and she will help you to implement the diet and lifestyle habits one at a time, so it feels doable, not overwhelming. Depending on your needs and requirements, generally, 4-12 sessions are recommended, over a period of 1-3 months.
I've eliminated dairy/sugar/[insert food here] but still break out. Will this work for me?
Often people are skeptical that diet can have a significant impact on their skin, especially if they tried an elimination or two, and their skin didn’t clear up. While dairy is a common, well-established acne trigger, there are many possible acne-genic foods as well as underlying root causes of acne, such as gut imbalance, hormone imbalance, blood sugar imbalance, stress, chronic inflammation, and nutrient deficiencies.
So, simply removing a food or two or three, is often not enough to eradicate acne. Additionally, we each have our own unique history, genetics, and biochemistry – which means there is not one clear skin diet that works for everyone.
By working with Acne Nutritionist Maria Marlowe, you’ll get an individualized plan that considers not just the eliminations, but also the additions YOU uniquely need to clear your skin, and pair it with a protocol to address any imbalances of the gut, body, and even mind. The result is a targeted protocol to help you clear your skin, for good.
I already eat healthy. Will this work for me?
Most likely, yes. Everyone’s definition of healthy is slightly different. And, because we each have our own history, genetics, and biochemistry, the healthiest diet for each of us is actually different, too. Acne is a sign of inflammation and imbalance, of which diet and lifestyle factors play a central role.
Do you work with vegan / vegetarians?
Absolutely. No matter what your dietary preference – vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, or omnivore – you can achieve clear skin. Different diets have different considerations, and Acne Nutritionist Maria Marlowe is well-versed in optimizing for clear skin while following different dietary habits.
Do you work with guys, too?
Absolutely.
If diet and lifestyle changes are the best way to clear up acne, why doesn't my dermatologist know about this?
Since the 1970s, dermatologists have been taught that there is no link between diet and skin. However, in recent decades there is a growing, undeniable, body of evidence to suggest that diet and lifestyle are contributing to the rising acne rates.
As of 2019, the American Academy of Dermatology, which sets the Dermatology curriculum, finally acknowledged the potential role of dairy and sugar in acne but stopped short of suggesting derms should make dietary recommendations to their patients or even acknowledge the very many other potential diet and lifestyle triggers.
That’s why in practice, your derm will probably never ask what you eat or make a dietary recommendations. Instead, they rely on prescribing pharmaceuticals.
